An admiral in Trouville: Edgard de Maigret

Marie-Françoise Moisy

A street in Trouville, next to the town hall, bears an illustrious name: that of Admiral Edgard de Maigret. We'll find out how this glorious sailor came to visit Trouville, as he was born on May 8, 1841 at the Château d'Hermonville in the Marne region of France.

His arrival in the fishing town, which soon became his adopted hometown and where he died, is set against a backdrop of family ties and the history of the Château d'Aguesseau, owned by a host of personalities and whose estate has been broken up over the years.
