Nicolas Seydoux
At the helm of Gaumont from 1975 to 2004, Nicolas Seydoux played a major role in the production and distribution of French cinema. At a time when he is publishing his memoirs (éditions Gallimard), Deauville, ville de cinéma, is delighted to welcome him to Les Franciscaines.
Born in 1939, Nicolas Seydoux was CEO of Gaumont for 30 years. At the head of France's largest film production company, he experienced first-hand the dazzling or unexpected successes(La Boum, Le Grand Bleu, Don Giovanni...) as well as the unexpected failures and outrageous projects alongside Jean-Pierre Rassam, Alain Poiré, Daniel Toscan du Plantier...
His memoirs evoke Lautner, Pialat, Godard, Depardieu and Duras, and reveal what went on behind the scenes of the cinema, as well as the creation of multi-screen cinemas and everything that consolidated and developed the legendary "daisy" firm. Driven by 50 years of passion, Nicolas Seydoux reveals a piece of history, behind the scenes and the changes in cinema.
