Nicola Fioravanti

Photographer Nicola Fioravanti presents Portraits à vélo, a series of photographs exploring the link between body, movement and urban space. An event organized in conjunction with the Deauville Sport Images Festival.

Portraits à vélo is an artistic project initiated by Eva Cordioli and brought to life by Italian photographer Nicola Fioravanti. Produced between 2023 and 2024, the series brings together portraits of cyclists captured in their urban environment. Each image highlights a singular presence, revealing how the bicycle becomes an extension of the body in the city. Part documentary, part mise-en-scene, the photographs create a sensitive cartography of contemporary mobility, questioning the way in which individuals appropriate public space. Presented at a number of exhibitions, the project continues to develop and keep pace with changes in urban usage. This meeting will look back at the genesis of the project, its visual writing and the artistic and social issues that drive it, around a means of transport that has become central to our society: the bicycle.
