Barbara
In a monologue combining fragments of interviews and Barbara's letters, actress Marie-Sophie Ferdane, accompanied by musician Olivier Marguerit, delivers a touching, subtle (self)portrait of the deeply moving artist.
Soberly dressed in black, Marie-Sophie Ferdane takes over the stage, set up like a hushed salon. She gives body and voice to Barbara's words, with a perfectly attuned sensitivity, at times grave, at times light. Alongside her, Olivier Marguerit sprinkles the show with delicate keyboard punctuations, while the "long brunette lady" sings from time to time.
Conceived by writer/director Clémentine Deroudille and writer Arnaud Cathrine, Barbara par Barbara brings public and private words into intimate resonance, giving voice to a passionate, fiercely free-spoken woman who never hesitates to rebuff the onslaught of impudent questions or twist clichés with a stroke of unstoppable humor.
