Solo dances
Puma Camillé
7:30pm | La Chapelle | Duration: 30 min | Free admission
Queen of capoeira and voguing, Puma Camillé is a multi-faceted, committed artist. Born in São Paulo, she has developed a hybrid style blending the influences of two dances that have much in common.
Capoeira carries with it the history of resistance to slavery, while voguing celebrates queer identities in the context of the fight against homophobia, which began in Harlem in the 1980s. Strength, joy and virtuosity are embodied in her acrobatic dance.
