Alphabet of Eugène Boudin's artist friends in Normandy
The information provided by contemporary newspapers, the memoirs of some of the artists who passed through Normandy between 1850 and 1890, and the analysis of Eugène Boudin's correspondence, make it possible to draw up a list of the painters who knew the artist, who was born in Honfleur and died in Deauville.
On September 15, 2024, as part of the bicentenary of Eugène Boudin's birth, we evoked the artistic exchanges between Boudin, Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Charles Daubigny, Thomas Couture and Alexandre Dubourg. This year, to complete the primer, we describe the circumstances of Boudin's encounters with, among others, Eugène Isabey, Johann Barthold Jongkind, Jean-François Millet, Constant Troyon and Claude Monet.
