Photography and high fashion
The fashion magazines Harper Bazaar's (1867) and Vogue (1909) will over the years and the progress of printing, become sponsors of many fashion images.
After the Second World War, a wind of renewal blew on the haute-couture with emerging designers like Christian Dior and his "New Look", carried by new photographers like Irving Penn (1991-2009).
Far from being a purely commercial genre, fashion photography reveals the eye of a photographer and builds the image of a fashion house.
Sylvie Lécallier is in charge of the photographic collection at the Palais Galliera - Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.
Brigitte Richart, Chief Curator of Heritage, is director of the Christian Dior Museum in Granville.
