Lilia Hassaine
Lilia Hassaine, author, journalist and columnist, has just published her new novel, Soleil Amer, published by Gallimard (2021) and shortlisted for the Goncourt and Goncourt des lycéens 2021 prizes.
After a first novel noticed, L'œil du paon (Gallimard, 2019) which is concerned with urban individualism, Lilia Hassaine addresses with Soleil Amer, the issue of the integration of Algerian populations in French society between the early sixties and the late eighties. From the golden age of the housing estates to their gradual abandonment, it is a pivotal period that she depicts. An intense story, carried by flamboyant female characters.
