Flam(m)e
With the Paris 2024 label, FLAM(M)E was inspired by the novel La petite communiste qui ne souriait jamais, in which Lola Lafon traces the destiny of mythical gymnast Nadia Comaneci.
Considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, the young Romanian made history at the Montreal Games in 1976: aged just 14, she scored her first ever perfect 10. She became a role model for millions of little girls, while the Romanian regime erected her image as a shining symbol of communist educational success.
Then came the inevitable metamorphosis: the body changed, the icon faltered, the propaganda crumbled. Withdrawal from sport at the age of 20, flight from the country in 1989, new exile in the United States... The myth cracks to make way for a story of intimate resistance.
In this creation, Coline Garcia explores how the bodies of young sportswomen become objects of social desire and political territory. Clémence de Felice plays Nadia in a performance of rare intensity, moving and spectacular.
As part of SPRING, Festival international des nouvelles formes de cirque (March 9 - April 8, 2026 in Normandy), proposed by Plateforme 2 Pôles Cirque en Normandie / La Brèche à Cherbourg and Cirque-Théâtre d'Elbeuf.
