At Les Franciscaines, the opening of the exhibition “Raoul Dufy: The Sound of Music” on Saturday, July 27, drew a large crowd eager to discover a luminous body of work in which the paintings seem to follow the rhythm of a musical score.

As part of the Constellation program, Les Franciscaines, in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, presents its very first exhibition co-organized with the Parisian institution, dedicated tothe rich and varied world of Raoul Dufy.

The opening took place in the presence of Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville and President of Les Franciscaines; Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou; Christian Briend, curator of the exhibition and head of the modern collections department at the Centre Pompidou; as well as Annie Madet-Vache, Director of the Musée des Franciscaines; and Caroline Clémensat, Executive Director of Les Franciscaines.

Featuring a selection ofabout 100 works, including some 60 paintings, the exhibition unfolds across ten sections that combine a chronological approach with thematic interpretations. It reveals an artist deeply attached to Normandy, while allowing his musical inspirations to resonate—a sensitive and vibrant thread running through his entire body of work.

The opening was marked by a spirit of sharing and emotion, where color becomes a language and painting a truly sensory experience.
