Tina Merandon
Tina Merandon explores Pictorialism, a movement that emerged around 1890 and sought to rival painting. She traces its main aesthetic principles and various trends, and explains why this movement left its mark on the history of photography and how it continues to influence certain contemporary practices today.
A photographer, lecturer, and guest of the photo4food foundation for this 17th edition of the Planches Contact Festival, Tina Merandon presents a talk open to everyone, from the curious to the passionate. As a lecturer at the Sorbonne preparing students for the external agrégation exams, she combines historical rigor with visual enjoyment to recount the major milestones in the history of photography and bring sometimes-forgotten figures back into the spotlight. Her exhibition *Soudain la mêlée*, created during her residency at the festival, is on view on the beach in Deauville through January 3.
