Raoul Dufy, painter of the studios
On the opening day of the exhibition Raoul Dufy, la mélodie du bonheur, Christian Briend, curator and curator of this exhibition, offers a thematic insight into the work of the painter from Le Havre.
Of all the painters of the first half of the 20th century, Raoul Dufy is undoubtedly the one who most consistently addressed the theme of the artist's studio. From his earliest beginnings to his last works, he repeatedly depicted his own creative spaces, whether in Paris, Vence or Perpignan. In his characteristically lively style, Dufy reactivated old iconography, giving each of them a distinctive identity through color alone. To review each of his Ateliers is to propose a new reading of Dufy's work, whose freedom and modernity never cease to amaze.
