Lucien Barrière American Novel Award
The Lucien Barrière Prize for the American Novel, created in 1976, is awarded each year as part of the Deauville American Film Festival.
Organized by Béatrice Nakache Halimi, the prize is awarded for a book about America, and past winners have included some of the greatest names in American literature: Irwin Shaw, Norman Mailer, Gore Vidal, Samuel Fuller, Paul Auster, Jerome Charyn, Mary Higgins Clark, Michael Cimino, Danielle Steel, Jim Harrison, Michael Collins, Stewart O'Nan, Colum McCann, Nathan Hill...
Selected by a jury of writers and journalists (François Armanet, Ariane Bois, Tiffany Gassouk, Colombe Schneck and Éric Neuhoff), the Lucien-Barrière Prize for the American Novel 2026 will be awarded to an American author on September 9, during the Deauville American Film Festival.
