Laurent Cresp
A singular painter deeply rooted in the equestrian world, Laurent Cresp embodies a rare trajectory in which the horse is not just a subject... but a veritable matrix for creation.
Trained from an early age in contact with horses, notably at the Haras du Pin school, he started out as a breeder and rider, developing an intimate knowledge of the animal that would never leave him. He then turned to teaching, becoming an instructor, before gradually developing his artistic vocation. Painter, illustrator and sculptor, Laurent Cresp has built up a coherent body of work, driven by one obsession: translating the relationship between man and horse. His work, mainly developed around drawing and watercolor, is characterized by a great freedom of line, a lively narrative often tinged with humor, and an ability to capture the movement, energy and sensitivity of the horse. In her compositions, the horse appears by turns powerful, fragile, proud or complicit. His talent was recognized by the Taylor Prize (drawing) 2024, rewarding the quality and uniqueness of his work, particularly on the theme of the horse.
