Emmanuelle Devos
Poetry and music intertwine in Amours impossibles, where the burning words of Apollinaire respond to the language of Schumann. A sensitive journey led by the Quatuor Parisii and the voices of Emmanuelle Devos and Jean-Pierre Lorit.
In 1911, Guillaume Apollinaire and Raoul Dufy signed Le Bestiaire ou Cortège d'Orphée, a seminal work in which poetry and painting merged in an unprecedented dialogue. At this time, the poet, still a marginal figure, shared with Robert Schumann a singular trajectory, marked by an intense inner life and the recurring figure of impossible love. These loves run through Poèmes à Lou, dedicated to Louise de Coligny-Châtillon, a collection of ardent modernity where desire, absence and ideal intertwine.
By entrusting these texts to Emmanuelle Devos and Jean-Pierre Lorit, the Quatuor Parisii extends this quest for artistic correspondences to Schumann's three quartets Op. 41. Composed in 1842, during a period of marital bliss, these works reveal a Schumann at once tormented and luminous, offering a musical setting of rare expressivity to Apollinaire's poetic words.
