Alain and Léo Keler
What is passed down when the craft of photography is handed down from father to son? A certain perspective, a way of experiencing the world, a sense of rigor, or the desire to break free from it? In a never-before-seen conversation, Alain Keler—a leading figure in French photojournalism and a member of the MYOP collective—speaks with his son Léo Keler, who is now developing his own artistic voice within the young Hors Format collective.
As guests of this 17th edition of the Planches Contact Festival, dedicated to generations, Alain and Léo Keler will compare their experiences, images, and commitments, alongside Françoise Denoyelle, a leading historian of photography. Spanning the transmission of family traditions, evolving practices, and perspectives on a changing world, this discussion will highlight how two generations of photographers are each inventing their own way of depicting reality in dialogue with the history of photography.
