Malgven Gerbes / shifts - art in movement
The piece Le Large is dedicated to the dancing body of children from 3 to 5 years old, by associating their parents, their companions and the two dancers: Malgven Gerbes and Margot Dorléans. Taking care, interacting, trusting, encouraging, dreaming, taking flight, using movements as a motor for the imagination. In its process of creation and interaction, Le Large unfolds a playful and poetic universe...

Duration : 50mn
Artistic team
Malgven Gerbes, choreographer and performer, studied architecture at ENSAAMA (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et Métiers d'Arts) in Paris, then worked for two years as an architect for the LVMH Group. Graduated from the choreographic department of ArtEZ Arnhem in the Netherlands (European Dance Development Center), Malgven Gerbes creates with David Brandstätter the interdisciplinary organization "shifts - art in movement" in 2007. She choreographs, performs and collaborates regularly with, among others, Le Phare - CCN du Havre Normandie, la fabrik Postdam, Les Hivernales d'Avignon. She has taught dance and choreography in several universities and is regularly invited to give masterclasses and workshops for professionals and amateurs in France and abroad. Malgven Gerbes now lives in Le Havre.
Margot Dorléans, dancer and choreographer from Le Havre, is involved in the fields of dance, performance and care through the practice of shiatsu and yoga. Through her career as an author with the Cie Du Vivant Sous Les Plis, which she created and directs, a career as a performer for other companies and a career of transmission around health care, Margot Dorléans seeks to combine artistic practice and energetic practice to question the language of the body, to open up and move towards the unknown, the indiscernible and to liberate the potential of life.
Saiko Ryusui, musician, studied sculpture in Berlin and has a diploma and works in early childhood education. Saiko composes songs in connection with the daily life of the children with whom she is in contact. In cooperation with David Brandstätter, Saiko composed the music for the play Le Large and accompanies the performers with her instruments during the performances.
David Brandstätter, co-choreographer and co-founder of shifts-art in movement, was born in Wuppertal, Germany. At the age of 15 he started juggling and unicycling at a high level, as well as practicing Japanese martial arts, and then studied musicology in Hamburg. In 2001 he started studying choreography at the choreographic department of ArtEZ in Arnhem, the Netherlands, and focused his research on the link between contact dance and dramaturgy. Together with Malgven Gerbes he founded the organization "shifts - art in movement" and since 2007 he choreographs, performs and teaches in France, Germany and internationally. As an external viewer of the creation Le Large, he enriches the piece with his knowledge of contact dance, feeds the artistic dialogue and intervenes regularly on video, musical and technical issues.
Laure Delamotte-Legrand Laure Delamotte-Legrand is a visual artist and set designer. She holds a DEA in theatrical and choreographic studies, focused on the analysis of movement. The questions of space, presence, posture, and gesture are central to her creations, in her solo works as a visual artist as well as in her collaborations with the contemporary dance and theater communities. The identity of her works is hybrid: photographs, videos, creation of "objects" and performances are gathered in devices or installations. She realizes, in collaboration with Malgven Gerbes, the scenography of the creation as well as the video and photographic documentation around the piece.
