Youth Universe
Five themes structure the visitor's route, all linked to the town's cultural identity: the horse, the basis of Deauville's history, its economy and its daily life; the "memory of Deauville", which brings together the documents recording its history; music, cinema and entertainment, which have long been a special place in Deauville; the art of living, as the evidence of a place open to all fantasies of happiness and rest; youth, because the future of Deauville belongs to it and obliges it.
These themes unfold around the Cloister courtyard, in "Universes" where a ribbon of knowledge runs through the loops of which shelter spaces for reading, co-working, projection, listening and exchange. The architectural tour de force consisted in embodying in the overall space the coherence and autonomy of each of the universes.
Each theme is thus adjusted to its own universe, signified in the space by a specific work on colours and scenographic characteristics.
Deauville measures the asset that youth represent and the challenge of responding to their expectations, uses and renewed cultural practices.
The attention paid to youth is embodied, for example, in the attention paid to young readers during the "Books and Music" festival, whose Literary Prize brings together nearly 3,000 middle and high school students, who also benefit from various schemes and activities.
This dedicated Universe proves Deauville's attachment to youth. The young public can discover resources tailored to their desires, with access to the 70,000 documents in the media library (including 40,000 catalogued books, 7,000 CDs, 2,000 DVDs, a games library); viewing rooms; ambitious digital devices offering them from the outset to organise their visit and explore the collections freely, thanks to a personalised interface; not forgetting dedicated mediation workshops and specific support for access to the works on display.

Cinq thématiques déployées en un lieu
Cinq thèmes en phase avec l’identité de Deauville, accueillent et structurent en cinq univers, les collections de la médiathèque et du musée : Ces thématiques se déploient sur deux étages autour du Cloître, sous forme d’un ruban de la connaissance dont les boucles abritent des espaces de lecture, de travail individuel et de recherche, de projection, d’écoute, d’échange. A chaque thème s’ajuste ainsi un univers propre, signifié dans l’espace par un travail spécifique sur les couleurs et les caractéristiques scénographiques.
L’Univers Cheval :
socle de l’histoire de Deauville, de son économie, de son quotidien.
L’Univers Deauville :
l’histoire d’une ville et de ceux qui ont écrit sa légende et son évolution.
L’Univers Spectacles :
les œuvres et documents historiques relatant les séjours et les créations des artistes à Deauville, ainsi que les CD, Blue Ray, DVD...
L’Univers Art de vivre :
mode, architecture, sports et loisirs cuisine, santé, bien-être… Autant de sujets majeurs qui se sont affirmés et partagés à Deauville.
L’Univers Jeunesse :
rassemble l’offre lecture et audio-visuelle à destination du jeune public.
