Lévi-Strauss, the world's broadest horizons
Conversation between Monique Lévi-Strauss, Samuel Titan and Patrick Straumann on the occasion of the launch of the book published by Editions Chandeigne & Lima.
Les plus vastes horizons du monde brings together ten texts by Claude Lévi-Strauss, most of them previously unpublished.
Published between 1935 and 1942 in Portuguese in various Brazilian journals, or deliberately forgotten by the author, these writings read together like a true formative novel by the great master of twentieth-century anthropology. They reveal his willingness to take to the open sea, his openness to the world and to others.
This exceptional work is illustrated with numerous iconographic documents, some of which are little-known to the general public, as well as five ethnographic films co-produced with his first wife, Dina Dreyfus, restored especially for this edition.
