Women in the garden reading
Seven portraits of women, seven fabulous gardens. A sort of oriental tale, a Thousand and Second Night where the roles are reversed. The Sultan is a storyteller, while Scheherazade sings and decides her own fate.
In this dreamlike, poetic, musical and militant world, Amel Brahim-Djelloul, Zadig Hamroune and Thomas Keck invite you on a journey. Fantasy Orient, Babylon, Happy Arabia, Numidia, Grenada... At each stop, a woman and an idyllic garden, like a series of Persian miniatures. A transpoetic journey to the rhythm of the caravans, where East and West converse.
The journey is built around carefully chosen pieces, bringing together the lyrical repertoires of Mozart, Massenet and Clara Schumann with the popular poetry of Lorca and the Arabo-Andalusian tradition. The songs of Kabylia (from Idir to Taos Amrouche) and the musical textures of Maurice Ohana complete this stopover between two shores.
