Emma Frank
At just 30 years of age, Emma Frank freshly distills contemplative music on the borders of jazz and folk.
Originally from Boston, and an adopted New Yorker since 2015, Emma Frank's compositions explore the corners of our intimacy. Love, desire, loss, commitment, doubt... these primary colors of the soul are evoked in turn in her albums.
She writes songs that touch on her personal history, accompanying them with finely-honed musical arrangements. With her voice exuding a sensual nonchalance, her innate sense of melody and her folk-jazz sounds, Emma Frank, who follows in the footsteps of Gretchen Parlato or Becca Stevens, is also often compared to Joni Mitchell. After several European and New York tours, she stops off at Les Franciscaines to present Interiors, her latest album, accompanied by her husband and drummer, Pedro Barquinha, and pianist extraordinaire Dominic Mekky.
