From November 9 to 17, 2024, Les Franciscaines hosts the exhibition Blanc de Chine, in theheart ofthe Cloister. An unprecedented artistic dialogue between Chinese and European ceramists. Organized in parallel with the 6ᵉ Forum Culturel Franco-Chinois, this exhibition pays tribute to the thousand-year history of porcelain, and celebrates the 60ᵉ anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China.
Through 21 exceptional works, it illustrates the spirit of exchange and collaboration between these two cultures, which inspire artists and collectors the world over.
The Blanc de Chine exhibition at Les Franciscaines explores the limits of innovation and tradition in the art of ceramics, bringing together worksby finalists from the last three editions of the International Prize for Ceramics Blanc de Chine (ICAA), held in Beijing, Nice and Lyon respectively.
These contemporary works, directly inspired by China's Fujian province and Dehua's artistic heritage, are a unique expression of the cross-influence between Asian and Western techniques. Through this cross-cultural dialogue, Blanc de Chine illustrates the historic link with the great French manufactures, such as those in Limoges and Sèvres, which helped forge the prestige of the term "Blanc de Chine", a true emblem of quality porcelain.
