Dylan, In Absentia
Summer 1966. Bob Dylan enters in his own dissidence by refusing to be a guide of his generation. Living until then in freewheel - Like a Rolling Stone - the artist, dazzled by the sun of a new morning in Woodstock, after three nights spent without sleep, zigzags on his motorcycle and falls. Injured in the cervicals, the singer is hospitalized. Soon weaned from drugs, he goes to the green in the vicinity of New York. Given up for dead, absent from the media, seeking at all costs to escape from fame to honor his marriage and become a good father, Bob Dylan confirms his legend in spite of himself.
Nicolas Comment follows this twenty-seven year old man in his struggle against his double. Throughout the pages, he meets other wild boys, such as Brian Jones, Allen Ginsberg, Jimi Hendrix, as well as the slender silhouettes of some exceptional women, in particular the"Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands" of Blonde On Blonde: Sara. For her, for her children, Dylan tries to escape the "Society of the Spectacle" at the moment when he becomes one of its myths, comforted by his absence.
